Logistics World has applied to take on two young people in early 2021, under the ‘Kickstart scheme’
Back in September, the Government launched a new initiative to create job placements for 16 to 24 year olds who are on Universal Credit.
It’s an age group that has been hit hard by the pandemic. In March, there were around 250,000 young people out of work, and due to so many either being furloughed, or having lost their jobs, this number had escalated to over 800,000 in September.
Any employer can apply!
Employers of all sizes can apply for the scheme, which covers 100% of the minimum or living wage, for 25 hours per week work, over a period of six months.
Designed by the government to ‘Kickstart’ the economy
It has been designed to both help ‘Kickstart’ the economy, whilst offering training and support to the individual, in the hope that they will be ‘more employable’ in the future, thanks to the skillset and experience they gain, whilst on their placement.
Larger organisations can apply to the scheme, which must be for a minimum of 30 job placements, whilst smaller businesses can apply via the ‘Kickstart’ scheme grant.

Logistics World has applied to take on two young people under the scheme, with a view to them becoming part of the longer term Logistics World team. One will be involved in our business development, whilst the other will provide administrative support in the office.
By offering two young people this opportunity, their future employment status will be more optimistic. We obviously hope that they will choose to stay at Logistics World, in their new and rewarding roles, expanding their skills, gaining more experience, and with a much brighter outlook.
