Logistics World – the origins behind our name!

When Tim Wilson, our managing director and owner of Logistics World started his career in logistics back in 1996, setting up a transport firm was one of his main goals.

Like so many aspiring professionals who dream of starting their own businesses, when Tim Wilson our managing director and owner of Logistics World started his career in logistics back in 1996, setting up a transport firm was one of his main goals.

As well as gaining an inordinate amount of knowledge and experience whilst working in the family’s logistics business, Tim was fully aware of the importance of having a strong brand name.

So, when it came to choosing a name for his own transport business, Tim had a firm vision.

Words have meanings, but names have power. I wanted to choose a name that was immediately clear as to the services the company offers, and so Logistics World was conceived.

- Tim Wilson, Owner and MD at Logistics World

According to the dictionary definition, the word ‘logistics’ means:

  1. The detailed organisation and implementation of a complex operation.
  2. 2. The commercial activity of transporting goods to customers.

Our extensive fleet includes Euro 6 HGV’s, that comply with both London’s Direct Vision Standard (DVS) and Birmingham’s clean air zone, to refrigerated vehicles that will safely transport perishable goods between temperatures of -21 °C to +20 °C, coupled with courier vans and even a smart car for the smallest of deliveries.

It’s this diversity of vehicles, a dedicated team of drivers, many of whom hold an ADR licence, and our extensive customer base which enables us to offer services such as the safe delivery, door-to-door of sensitive documents to large volumes of paint, hand sanitiser and even Covid tests.

Our deliveries take us anywhere in the world, so whilst our core work is across the UK and frequently into Europe as well, ultimately our work is worldwide, hence the second part of our company name being ‘World’!

The Logistics World company logo and branding clearly incorporates a globe to signify that we can deliver to anywhere in the world.

Less apparent is the choice of the three colours ‘red, yellow and blue’. These are the primary colours, the foundation colours from which all other colours are created, and therefore in essence a subtle reference that Logistics World should be your primary ‘go to’ transport team for any deliveries that you may require.
