Having been recently promoted to the position of Office Manager, Rhiann Hughes is an integral part of the team at Logistics World.
Whilst her vocation is most definitely in transport and logistics, her original chosen career path was very different indeed! Having initially decided to pursue a career in law, and even spending a few months studying it, Rhiann quickly realised that becoming a lawyer was not for her!
To help you to get to know Rhiann just a little better, we asked her the following questions:
Q. Did you pass your driving test first time?
A. I currently can’t drive! Infuriatingly, I was about to start having driving lessons, but Covid put a stop to my plans! I’m keen to start taking lessons at some point in 2021, and really hope I do Logistics World proud and pass first time, especially as they have generously agreed to pay for my lessons!
Q. Have you always worked in transport?
A. No, I was waitressing before I joined Logistics World. They were simply looking for someone to make sales calls part-time. Before I knew it, I was in the sales office full-time, having discovered a new found love for transport.
Q. What’s the most bizarre thing that you’ve been asked to send on behalf of Logistics World?
A. I wouldn’t class it as a bizarre object, but we are frequently requested to transport traffic lights! We’ve also been asked to transport real Christmas trees, as well as massive batteries.
Q. What’s the best thing about working at Logistics World?
A. No two days are ever the same, every day is so different! When you walk through the door in the morning, thinking you know how your day is going to pan out, it never quite goes to plan. You definitely need to be adaptable and be able to juggle tasks too, and it’s never boring in the office, as we all get on so well.
Q. What did you dream of becoming when you were a child?
A. The plan was to become a lawyer. I even went to university to study law for a few months, but left quite quickly as I knew it wasn’t for me!
Q. What do you most like to listen to whilst driving? (radio, podcast, streaming music)
A. As I’m currently always the passenger, I don’t always get to choose, but if I do, I like listening to cheesy 90’s pop music or songs from the musicals.
Q. What form of public transport do you prefer and why? (air, boat, train, bus etc)
A. Planes every time! If I’m on a plane, it usually means I’m on holiday, going somewhere hot and sunny!
Q. Bonus question! Where’s the most memorable place that you’ve organised a delivery to?
A. Whilst not necessarily memorable, we frequently deliver to Plymouth, Exeter and Torquay, which are all on the coast – who doesn’t like a trip to the seaside? Probably the most memorable places that we have recently delivered to include a couple of zoo’s and most notably a few Covid test centres!
