Let Logistics World Handle all Your Offensive Waste!

Considered one of the West Midlands leading transport businesses, Logistics World offers a great many complementary delivery services which more mainstream and smaller logistic companies cannot offer.

In fact, we could easily be classed as a ‘one-stop transport shop’, as we not only offer courier sized door-to-door collections, large haulage deliveries around the clock and refrigerated transport, we can deliver internationally, offer extensive warehousing facilities and we are certified to safely transport both hazardous products and offensive waste. These two latter services are regulated by law, and Logistics World is registered to safely transport both.

Since 2023, all our drivers hold an ADR licence, a term which originates from the 1957 French treaty ‘Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route’ and which roughly translates as the ‘European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road’.

As its name suggests, holding an ADR licence certifies drivers to safely transport chemicals and other hazardous goods, and in conjunction with this, we also hold a waste carrier licence which allows for the safe transport and disposal of controlled waste.

Often referred to as offensive waste, controlled waste could be any item which has been contaminated with a bodily fluid that is not suspected to be infectious, but that could accumulate bacteria if not handled, stored, and disposed of properly.

Most offensive waste comes from the human and animal healthcare sectors, police stations and local councils, with the healthcare industry being the main source.

Currently, it’s anticipated that 40% of all hazardous waste discarded by the NHS could be separated into other wastes and disposed of accordingly. This in turn would save the NHS a significant amount of money, as clinical waste is much more expensive to dispose of.

Clearly, almost all healthcare sectors will have the requirement to dispose of both of these types of waste, and therefore, outsourcing to a logistics team who are certified to safely transport both hazardous and offensive waste is not only convenient, but will actually save time and potentially money. So, if your business has offensive waste products to dispose of, or you have products that must be transported under an ADR licence, be sure to get in touch!
