Does your company have offensive waste that you need to dispose of? We can help

Whilst offensive waste is not typically considered dangerous to human or animal health, such waste can accumulate bacteria if not handled, stored, and disposed of properly.

Primarily a source from both the human and animal healthcare sectors, ‘offensive waste’ is any waste that isn’t infectious, but that might be unpleasant or cause ‘offense’. To be classed as non-clinical waste, (which is waste that must be disposed of under an ADR goods licence), offensive waste must not contain any pharmaceutical or chemical substances.

Simply put, offensive waste could be any item that has been stained or contaminated with a bodily fluid that is not suspected to be infectious, such as human and animal faeces, vomit, urine, nappies, empty and non-medicated intravenous drip bags, PPE and sanitary waste. Whilst offensive waste is not typically considered dangerous to human or animal health, such waste can accumulate bacteria if not handled, stored, and disposed of properly.

The healthcare industry is one of the biggest sectors needing to dispose of offensive waste, and whilst there is a legal requirement to segregate waste, it is estimated that 40% of clinical waste could be separated into other wastes, including offensive waste. This could potentially save the NHS and other sectors a lot of money, as clinical waste is much more expensive to dispose of.

As well as hospitals, GP practices, police stations and local councils all have the need for the safe disposal of offensive waste, and amongst the many services that Logistics World offers, we are certified to safely transport both offensive waste and other hazardous and chemical goods.

Logistics World is registered to safely transport almost any item. Currently, over 75% of our drivers hold an ADR licence, and as a company, we also hold a waste carrier licence, which allows an individual or company to carry, transport, and dispose of controlled waste, in order to comply with the UK’s stringent rules and regulations for the transportation and disposal of hazardous materials and offensive waste.

We are also registered to safely transport and dispose of clinical waste as well, and can supply the required necessary paperwork to evidence it has been disposed of legally and correctly.

Having previously been appointed to transport Covid-19 testing kits and hand sanitisers, Logistics World was then employed to service the covid vaccination centres by collecting their sharps bins under our waste carrier licence. Now we are all returning to normality, there has been a surge in the requirement for the safe disposal of offensive wastes.
